[Introduction] One of the most common questions we hear at Epohome is: "Is it durable?" The answer is a resounding yes. Modern epoxy resin is incredibly tough—it is the same material used to coat industrial floors and boat hulls. However, like any fine luxury item (think of a grand piano or a classic car), it requires specific care to maintain its showroom shine. The good news is that maintenance is simple if you follow a few golden rules.
Forget the harsh chemicals. To clean your epoxy table daily, all you need is a soft microfiber cloth and mild dish soap mixed with warm water.
l Do: Wipe spills immediately.
l Don't: Use abrasive scouring pads (like Scotch-Brite) or cleaners containing bleach, ammonia, or citrus. These can dull the glossy finish over time. Glass cleaner is generally safe for the resin part, but be careful not to oversaturate the wood if it has an oil finish.
While our resins are high-quality and heat resistant (usually up to 120-135°F), they are not heat proof.
l Rule of Thumb: If it’s too hot to hold in your hand, don’t put it directly on the table. Always use coasters for hot coffee mugs and trivets for hot pans. Placing a boiling pot directly on resin can cause "rings" or slight softening of the surface.
l UV Care: All organic materials change in the sun. Wood will darken (Cherry) or lighten (Walnut), and resin can slightly amber over many years. We recommend avoiding placing the table in direct, scorching sunlight for 8 hours a day if possible.
Life happens. If your table gets a scratch, don't panic. One of the best features of epoxy is that it is renewable.
l Micro-scratches: These can often be buffed out using a simple automotive polishing compound and a soft cloth. Rub in a circular motion until the haze disappears.
l Deeper Scratches: For more significant marks, the table can be sanded down and re-polished or re-oiled. While we recommend a professional for this, it means your table can technically be "reset" to brand new condition even after 10 years of use—something you can't do with veneer furniture.
[Conclusion] An Epohome table is built to be used, not just admired. With these simple care habits—coasters, mild soap, and the occasional polish—your river table will remain the stunning centerpiece of your home for decades to come.
